Safety Meeting is an iPhone app that helps hockey parents find a place to meet near the rink, see when to leave for puck drop, and vote as a team on where to go. At the Rink is its companion app for rink concession stands. Both are made by typif.ai (“we”) and use the same server at safetymeeting.fun. This policy covers both apps and the safetymeeting.fun website.
The short version
- There is no account, sign-up or login.
- We don't collect your name, email, phone number, contacts or location.
- There are no ads, no advertising or analytics SDKs, and no tracking across other apps or websites. We never sell or share data.
- What the apps send is tied to a random ID made by the app, not to you.
What stays on your iPhone
Your games (titles, rinks, puck-drop times and the place you picked), saved places, team colors and settings are stored in the app on your iPhone. They aren't sent to us, with two exceptions described below: a team vote you choose to start, and a daily count of how many games you have.
- Location. If you allow it, the app uses your location on your iPhone to open the concession stand at the closest rink. Your location is never sent to us.
- Calendar. If you import games from your calendar, the app reads your events on your iPhone so you can pick which are games. Nothing from your calendar is sent to us, and the app never changes your calendar.
- Team schedule links. If you add a team schedule link, your iPhone downloads it directly from wherever it's hosted (for example your team's scheduling service). The link and its contents aren't sent to us.
What the apps send to safetymeeting.fun
Each install makes a random ID, kept in your iPhone's Keychain. When you post something, the app also proves it's the real app using Apple's App Attest, and the server records that app key's ID as the author. Neither ID contains or reveals anything about you. Here is everything the apps send, and why:
- Team votes. When you start a vote: the game's title (for example “U12 A vs Lakeville”), the rink, the puck-drop time and time zone, the 2–4 places you picked (name, address, location and drive time), your team colors, and your app's random ID. When anyone votes: their choice and their app ID or, on the web page, a random cookie. Anyone with the vote link can see the vote and its results.
- Concession stands. Star ratings and notes you write, menu items and prices you add or confirm, and favorites you mark, with the rink they're for. Other parents see ratings, notes, items and prices, but never who posted them.
- How cold the rink is. Your 1–10 vote, the rink and the time.
- What a place has. When you answer “What's here?”: your yes/no for Food, Beer, Wine or Pull Tabs, the place's Apple Maps ID, name and address, and what the app guessed from Apple Maps.
- Popular places. After a game's puck drop, the place you ended up with (its Apple Maps ID, name and address) and the rink, so the most-picked places can be suggested at that rink. Places you tapped or changed before puck drop aren't counted.
- Daily usage counts. Once a day when you open the app: which app it is, its version, and how many games, upcoming games and team schedule links you have, under an install ID that's a one-way scramble of the random ID. This tells us how many people use the apps. It can't be matched to your votes or posts.
The apps also download things from safetymeeting.fun that don't involve your data: concession stand info, place tags, the list of licensed pull-tab sites (from the Minnesota Gambling Control Board's public data), and fixes to the rink list.
Apple Maps
Finding places near a rink, drive times, and Apple's place cards (photos, ratings, reviews and hours) come from Apple Maps. Those requests go from your iPhone to Apple and are handled under Apple's Privacy Policy. We don't see them.
The safetymeeting.fun website
The vote page sets one cookie, a random ID, so you can change your vote; it lasts a year. The site has no other cookies, ads or analytics. safetymeeting.fun runs on Cloudflare, which processes requests (including your IP address) to deliver the site and keeps short-lived logs for troubleshooting and security, under Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Who can see it
Posts are shared with everyone who uses the apps, without names. We can see everything on the server, to run it and to remove abuse: three reports from different phones hide a post automatically, and we review and fix data by hand. We don't share data with anyone else, except if the law requires it.
How long it's kept
Votes and their results, posts, tags, picks and usage counts are kept so the apps keep working and suggestions improve over time. Usage counts are kept to show trends. You can ask us to remove anything, as described below.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes everything stored on your iPhone. Because there are no accounts, we can't look up your posts by name. To remove something you posted, report it in the app or email us what it was and where (for example the rink and the note), and we'll delete it.
Children
Safety Meeting and At the Rink are made for parents and other adults. They aren't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If what the apps send changes, we'll update this page and its date before that version ships.
